Director of ISIR
The Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research (ISIR) was founded in 1939 as a part of Osaka University with the aim of promoting basic science for the development of industry through strong demand and expectations of business leaders in Osaka area. Since then, the ISIR has displayed circumstances flexibility toward change, we carried out a significant restructuring in order to develop the interdisciplinary research fields and to strengthen the Nanoscience and Nanotechnolgy field;a reformation into 3 divisions (Division of information and Quantum Sciences ,Division of Advanced Materials and Beam Sciences, Division of Biological and Molecular Sciences) and Nanoscience and Nanotechnolgy Center in 2009 to date.
As a nationwide research collaboration system, ISIR established the Network Joint Research Center for materials and Devices and the Nano-macro Materials, Devices and System Research Alliance through interuniversity research institutes aims to develop innovative materials and devices by linking between nano and macroscopic worlds toward realization of safety and secure society and works in conjunction with 5 university-attached research institutes: Res.Inst.Electronic Science (Hokkaido University), Inst. Multidiscipl. Res. Advanced Materials (Tohoku University), Chemical Resources Lab. (Tokyo Inst.Tech.), Inst.Materials Chem. & Eng. (Kyusyu University) since 2010.
Our mission and spirit are inherited even today since it’s founded in 1939, the ISIR will continue to develop as one of Japan’s leading comprehensive research institute. An important responsibility of the ISIR is to answer the mandates of industry and alongside promoting the very best education and research. Under our traditional positive mission and spirit, we pursue a target-driven basic research leading to real innovation and our world-level innovative basic research efforts flexibly answer the call of society while also maintaining a positive tradition.
I humbly request your support and cooperation.
