Overview: The purpose of this conference is to bring together leading researchers and engineers from all over the world who are conducting research related to the development and applications of quantum beams in science and industry, to exchange the newest information, and engage in fruitful discussions. The main scope of the conference is towards the novel applications of quantum beams in creation and diagnostics of new hard and soft materials. The topics also contain various quantum beam sources, including laser-plasma accelerators (LPA), as well as the next generation of radiation sources such as LPA driven free electron lasers (FEL) as tools for observing transient states of matter and stimulated chemical reactions. In addition, numerical simulations for understanding the detailed behavior of laser / quantum beams-mater interactions are included to these themes to provide a unified view of applications of quantum beams from a broader perspective.

Overview: The 10th imec Handai International Symposium will be held as a live on-line/web hybrid symposium from 17:00 (JST) on Monday, 6 December. The first Opening Session (Welcome Word, Keynote Speech) will be held on-line, and the Technical Session will be a Web symposium on the imec home page. In the Opening Session, the welcome word will be followed by a Keynote Speech by Mr. Chris Van Hoof (imec Vice president/ One-Planet Research Center, General Manager). In addition to the presentations by 9 SANKEN professors, there will be 20 presentations in the Technical Session, including presentations from imec and Tokyo Tech. The Technical Session will be broadcasted on-demand during the symposium, and questions will be accepted as chat messages at the individual presentations, which will be answered by the speakers during the Q&A Session on the last day. Overview

The Symposium will focus on cutting edge Science and Technology and contribute to the establishment of a sustainable and smart society (Society 5.0) through life and environmental sciences.

The symposium will feature a special lecture by Nobel laureates, Professor Bernard L. Feringa of the University of Groningen, and several related topics on chemistry and chemical technology for life and environmental sciences.

The symposium will share knowledge about recent advances in science and technology not only in molecular chemistry and environmental sciences, but also in various scientific research and development areas in quantum, materials, beam, biotechnology, chemistry, nanoscience and nanotechnology and information science including AI, etc. and discuss active contribution of new concept and R&D outcomes to the society and industry.
