Visit to Paris Sud University and Institut de Chimie Moléculaire de l’Université de Bourgogne, ICMUB
Paris Sud University locates in Orsey Ville which is a peaceful suburb on the south of Paris city. I visited Professor Giang Vo-Thanh and Dr. Martial Toffano at Paris Sud University on September 28th, 2013 to discuss the project on the core-to-core program. Especially, we made a concrete research plan for the master course student who joined Professor Vo-Thanh’s laboratory for one month from the end of October, 2013. Since one month stay was a very short period for the student to get some experimental results in synthetic organic chemistry, we have to arrange for him in detail. Concerning his stay in Paris Sud University, Professor Vo-Thanh proposed me about the presentation of doctoral degree from both of Paris Sud University and Osaka University.

From September 29th I moved to Dijon and stayed the laboratory of Professor Sylvain Jugé at Institut de Chimie Moléculaire de l’Université de Bourgogne (ICMUB). Although I had to go back to Japan temporally to attend a domestic meeting in Kanazawa, I stayed ICMUB for almost three weeks until October 26. During my stay in France, I gave six lectures and cooperated to write a research proposal of a matching fund for the JSPS core-to-core program entitled ”P-chirogenic organophosphorus Lewis Acids-Bases/Brønsted Acids for asymmetric organocatalyzed reactions”. This proposal was based on two collaborative publications with Professor Jugé.

Dijon is a historical beautiful city where we can visit about one hour from Paris by the rapid train TGV. I commuted to ICMUB from my hotel in city center by a tram line which started the service in 2012. I enjoyed to visit historical churches, monasteries, castles, and vineyard in weekends. Dijon is also known as a gourmet town. Professor Jugé took me to excellent restaurants as well as invited me to his home.
