Q-BASIS 2024 concluded in success.
Owing to the generous contributions of all those involved, the international conference “Q-BASIS 2024” was successfully held at SANKEN (formerly the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research), Osaka University, from November 11 (Mon.) to 14 (Thu.), 2024, by SANKEN and the JST-Mirai LPA (Laser Plasma Acceleration) project.
During the conference period, Q-BASIS 2024 attracted more than 100 participants from six countries. With respect to “Quantum Beam Application for Science and Industries,” the conference program consisted of three keynote lectures, 34 invited lectures, and 30 poster presentations. In addition, 12 companies cooperated with the conference by exhibiting their highly sophisticated instruments as well as introducing their state-of-art technologies.
As in the previous time, Q-BASIS 2024 offered mutually-enlightening forum by gathering the latest cutting-edge attainments world-wide in order to engage in a vigorous exchange of ideas. Among the fields of science and technology covered were quantum beam science, plasma physics, laser science, materials science, chemistry, biology, medical and pharmaceutical sciences, and related disciplines.
On the last day, Q-BASIS 2024 organized a laboratory tour to “Research Center for Nuclear Physics (RCNP)” of Osaka University, where participants could take a close look at the ring cyclotron accelerator and other facilities that realize highly advanced research activities in nuclear physics and its applications.
The conference chairs would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere gratitude to all those who attended and contributed to the conference, and look forward to meeting again at the next Q-BASIS conference in Japan in the spring of 2026.

What we stand for
The purpose of this conference is to bring together leading researchers and engineers from all over the world who are conducting research related to the development and applications of quantum beams in science and industry, to exchange the newest information, and engage in fruitful discussions. The main scope of the conference is towards the novel applications of quantum beams in creation and diagnostics of new hard and soft materials. The topics also contain various quantum beam sources, including laser-plasma accelerators (LPA), as well as the next generation of radiation sources such as LPA driven free electron lasers (FEL) as tools for observing transient states of matter and stimulated chemical reactions. In addition, numerical simulations for understanding the detailed behavior of laser / quantum beams-mater interactions are included to these themes to provide a unified view of applications of quantum beams from a broader perspective.
