Single Bunch L-Band Electron Linear Accelerator


@The single bunch L-band electron linear accelerator consists of an electron gun, two 12th subharmonic prebunchers (SHPB's), a 6th SHPB, a prebuncher, a buncher and an accelerating waveguide.
@These SHPB's compress the 5 ns of electron beam by about a factor of 10, so that the bunch entering the prebuncher has a width of about 500 ps.
The bunched beam is accelerated up to 38 MeV by the accelerating waveguide.
@The single bunch of 67 nC and 20 ps duration is obtained for experiments of ultrafast reactions.


150 MeV S-Band Electron Linear Accelerator


@The 150 MeV S-Band Electron Linear Accelerator which is characterized by the relatively high accelerating gradient is constructed.
@This machine consists of three accelerating waveguides (one 2.8 m long and two 1.9 m lomg), to which rf is supplied from three 35 MW klystrons.
@The beam energy evaluated for zero beam current is 123 MeV at a total input rf power of 81 MW.
@The accelerating gradient of 19.3 MV/m is obtained in the 1.9 m waveguide.
