Common Facilities

Office of Information Network

We are working on various tasks related to the stable operation of the in-house network, including the formulation and maintenance of network policies, technical tasks such as the construction and management of various servers, as well as security measures against information leaks, which have become a current issue, and education on those measures. Additionally, we support users and researchers through a wide range of tasks, such as the construction and management of systems such as the entry management system and member basic database in the research institute.

Technical Division

The Technical Division (TEW) was established in 1982 to handle professional responsibilities aimed at providing improved services for researchers. TEW comprises two groups: the Fabrication Group and the Measurement Group. Each group consists of two sections: the Machining Section and the Device Development Section within the Fabrication Group, and the Instrumental Analysis Section and the Information Network System and Public Relations Section within the Measurement Group. Technicians are stationed at various locations including the Comprehensive Analysis Center, the Workshop, the Office of Information Network, the Public Relations Office, the Research Laboratory for Quantum Beam Science, the AI center, and the Nanotechnology Center. TEW not only delivers high-quality services to research groups but also provides technical training to researchers and students. Additionally, since 2004, TEW has initiated safety lectures on the utilization of various machines in SANKEN and endeavors to enhance the development of SANKEN into a more significant entity.

Workshop

The workshop, consisting of a metal processing shop and a glass blowing shop, was organized when ISIR was established. Since ISIR includes a wide variety of research fields, many different types of novel experimental devices have been used extensively. The purpose of this workshop is to provide advanced technical support to researchers to make their research works successful and creative. We design and fabricate any experimental device they desire, with tight collaborations with researchers from the trial phase to final stage of production. In addition, we are trying not only to expand the processing areas but also to achieve highest-precision fabrications, by introducing state-of-art machinery, like CNC lathe and the CNC cylindrical grinder.

The SANKEN Strategy Office

The purpose of "The SANKEN Strategy Office" is to comprehensively handle operations spanning industry and academic collaboration, the general utilization of intellectual property, planning (mainly public relations and international related), and the formation of our institute management strategy. The SANKEN Strategy Office was formed in April 2020 through the merger of the Academia Industry Relations Office (AIR Office) and the Planning Office. The office handles a wide range of activities, such as industry and academia collaboration activities and funding acquisition support.
