Investigate and develop novel business systems that enable transfer of academic research outcomes to a new industry effectively and promptly, and that intend to improve productivity through responding to social demands. Actively promote collaborative exchanges with overseas research institutions, aiming to contribute to solving global issues as well as thereby linking to industrialization and human resource development. Specifically, promote joint research and personnel exchanges with the international research organization “imec” as well as develop a new biosensing system with graphene FETs that can quickly detect various viruses hidden in living spaces, responding to pandemics that threaten the world.

Virus Detection by Integrated Graphene FET Array with Automated Solution Exchange System

Current Research Topics

  • 11th imec Handai Internatoional Sympsoum
The symposium was held in person at imec for the first time since three years. Technical discussions and personnel exchanges were promoted for joint research following biosensors "electroencephalography (EEG)."

  • Virus Detection by Graphene FET(MATSUMOTO Group)
A biosensing system was constructed by integrated graphene FET array with  microchannels equipped with an automatic solution exchange function and thereby a new coronavirus detection protocol was developed.
  • Basic, applied, and practical research on the creation and properties of silicon formulations (KOBAYASHI Group)
By applying effective surface treatment to silicon powder, they have developed a silicon formulation that reacts with water in the neutral region to generate a large amount of hydrogen continuously, and are currently conducting research from basic research to drug discovery applications.
