Student Life
For 85 years since its establishment in 1939, SANKEN has been engaged in "research on fundamental science and its applications in special fields related to natural science that are necessary for industry". With the aim of mastering basic science, which is the source of the creation of new industries, and developing applications based on the results of that science, the institute promotes advanced research in the four research fields of materials and beams, information and quantum, biology and molecules, nanotechnology and nanoscience, as well as in the area of AI that integrates these fields.
Currently, there are 28 laboratories and 210 graduate students from Osaka University‘s Graduate Schools of Science, Engineering, Engineering Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Information Science and Technology, and Frontier Biosciences. One of the major features of SANKEN's culture is the variety of events held at the institute, where faculty, staff, and students can deepen their friendship beyond the boundaries of laboratories.
Features of SANKEN
Diverse Prof. & Labs
SANKEN has the unique distinction of accepting students from six different graduate schools. Professors who promote world-class research drive the laboratories and provide an environment where students can maximize their potentials.
Support for Students
The institute supports students through a variety of educational activities, such as sending young researchers overseas, mentoring programs, technology acquisition schooling, and corporate internships. Another feature of SANKEN is the many events held at the institute.
Advanced Research Equipment
To support cutting-edge research, the center has many specialized research instruments and common facilities, including the Comprehensive Analysis Center and Research Laboratory for Quantum Beam Science, which support the diverse research activities of students.
