Department of Nanodevices for Medical Applications
DNA is one of biological polymers with a well-ordered stacking structure of π-conjugated molecules.Charge transfer property is one of the important characteristics of DNA, and positive and negative carrier transfers in DNA are highly related to DNA damage and repair, respectively. We study charge carrier dynamics in DNA by means of time-resolved spectroscopy and single-molecule spectrosocpy to obtain information useful for medical applications.
Nanofabrication Shop
The purpose of nanofabrication shop is the promotion of nanotechnologyrelated research by use of equipments and special skills for nanotechnology researchers and students belonging to ISIR. This shop fabricates nanodevices for the ISIR researchers and develops devices for researchers who want to apply those devices for their own experiments. In Advanced Nanotechnology Instrument Laboratory, the fine nanofabrication system based on electron beam lithography, the nano-device fabrication system and nano-device characterization systems on structure and electrical properties of nano device have been installed, and enable us to study various nano-materials and nano-devices composed of inorganic/ soft organic /bio materials. This laboratory will continuously develop and work to promote advanced Nanotechnology.
Advanced Research Infrastructure for Materials and Nanotechnology in Japan (ARIM)
"Advanced Research Infrastructure for Materials and Nanotechnology Project (ARIM)" by MEXT#1) was started on April 2021 in order to provide the latest user facilities and create industrial innovations. The institute of scientific and industrial research (ISIR) and research center for ultra-high voltage electron microscopy (UHVEM) participated in the MEXT project, and “Advanced Research Infrastructure for Materials and Nanotechnology Open Facilities in Osaka University” was established in Osaka University. We totally support domestic nanotechnological researchers by providing three platforms; (1) Characterization & analysis, (2) Nanofabrication, and (3) Molecular & material synthesis. Each platform consists of several facilities of other domestic universities and institutes and the facilities in the platform also cooperate among them. "Advanced Research Infrastructure for Materials and Nanotechnology Open Facilities in Osaka University" contributes to creations of novel nano-materials and nano-devices though the supports concerning combinations of various materials such as metal, oxide, organic and bio, or different research fields. We also cooperate with regional companies/universities/institutes on the project, and bring up future nanotech key persons. Advanced Research Infrastructure for Materials and Nanotechnology Open Facilities in Osaka University” will play the role of a center of regional industrial innovation. #1) the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT)
